An insider's Guide to London
An insider guide to London with Emily @emswells
London is one of my all-time favourite cities, so I was delighted when Superga asked me to join them on a trip to see the tennis at Queens. My partner Josh and I are big fans of the sport, and we couldn't wait to experience all the excitement surrounding the tournament in the most exciting city in the world.
We arrived in London on Friday morning at Charing Cross. We met with busy crowds and bustling streets the moment we stepped off the train. I wore my white Cotu Classics paired with a navy pair of linen trousers and a simple white t shirt - a staple outfit of mine. Josh wore grey denim shorts, a simple T shirt and his men’s Club S Prime in fog, navy & tobacco.
We swiftly dropped our luggage at the beautiful Kensington hotel on Queen's Gate and made our way to the tournament, where we immediately grabbed a jug of obligatory Pimm's and headed to our seats.
For me a simple white sneaker is a classic wardrobe staple that never goes out of style. It’s a fashion statement all on its own and everyone looks good in one of Superga’s iconic styles. Because our itinerary was so jam-packed, Josh and I chose some hero styles that can easily and elegantly take you from day to night.
I have to admit I’m guilty of selecting footwear based on how it works with my whole outfit which is sometimes a comfort fail... especially when you’re out and about on your feet all day. Happily, the Superga Cotus Classics didn’t just look great, they were so comfortable and supportive - just the perfect city break shoe.
After a long day we went back to the hotel and freshened up in preparation for our reservation at Daphne's in South Kensington, the ideal spot for a romantic and intimate dinner. The menu offered an array of authentic Italian cuisine and the decor and service were immaculate, we’ll definitely be coming again. I wore a silk green dress paired with my white Cotu Classics; my hair down, loose with waves and a simple small shoulder bag. I wouldn't usually pair this dress with trainers but the soft canvas and simple design of the Cotu’s almost melted together with the dress. Totally seamless, with the added bonus of being the very definition of comfort.
The following morning we ate breakfast at the Kensington. We both ordered eggs - poached for josh and boiled for me - the service was swift and impeccable. We then attended the Regent’s Park open air theatre and watched the performance of the total classic - Robin Hood. Originally established in 1932 this open air theatre is the largest in London, set within a royal park with different performances throughout the summer. We were so lucky with the weather because this amazing experience was all the more enjoyable in the beautiful sunshine.
But of course, the highlight of the whole trip for both of us was the tennis. Superga’s long history with the sport made this a really unforgettable trip. There was something very cool about being courtside wearing a brand with so much heritage and connection to the sport. Superga are famous for conceiving the first Italian tennis shoe over 100 years ago and they continue this tradition of innovation today with classic sneakers for a new generation of fashion fans – and tennis lovers.
