Viktor&Rolf x Superga
After their first capsule collection in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the haute couture brand, Superga and Viktor&rolf reunited to design a second limited edition release.
The SS24 collection combines the timeless character of Superga® with Viktor&Rolf's avant-garde aesthetic and includes some of the brand's hallmarks: the couture flower, the iconic bow, and the silicone Viktor&Rolf seal applied to the outside of the shoe. Each sole is also enriched with the Viktor&Rolf logo rubber back patch.
The collection is composed by three styles: the 2750 declined in two variants, the 2790 platform and the 2708 high top.
The iconic 2750 is declined in two versions. The first features a cotton canvas upper with padded satin edging, embroidered eyelets and satin laces. The signature element is the removable maxi bow made by hand from cotton. This style is available in both black and white.
The second variant of the 2750 features a cotton canvas upper with all-over print and contrasting 3D effect bows, embroidered eyelets and cotton laces
The 2790 with 4-centimeter platform features a cotton canvas upper with padded satin edging, embroidered eyelets and satin laces. The couture detail is the removable handmade cotton maxi bow.
The 2708 high-top with 4-centimeter platform features a cotton canvas upper with cotton edging, embroidered eyelets and satin laces. The handmade satin rose couture detail stands out.
Don't miss our interview with Viktor&Rolf:
How did the collaboration with Superga came to life?
We like to twist classics and Superga is an enduring classic in its field.
What had impressed you about the design of Superga?
It is classic and timeless but still fresh!
How did you reinterpret the shoes and why did you decide to work on a second release?
We made the Superga classic into a young couture shoe: all in black satin with exaggerated shoelaces, a couture rose as an embellishment and a slightly higher platform sole. In addition there is a shoe with an all over bow print, sketched by us two.
We enjoy the collaboration and the possibilities are endless so we loved to continue working together.
Which is your relationship with Italy?
Our partner is Italian and our collections used to be made in Italy. The country, its culture and its love of all the good things in life are close to our hearts.
Superga is an Italian must have starting from childhood: did you wear Superga when you were kids?
Not as kids but as adults we do!
